Discrepancies
  • Alan Ludgate is given in many newspaper reports as living in Manchester. He had played for Manchester University in 1970-73 but then moved near to Liverpool (Alan Ludgate, email of February 22, 2018).
  • The CHESS report gives "O. McGuiness" for McGuinness and "A. Cooles" for Cootes; Lewis's report in BCM gives "J. James", "C. McCormick", and "O. MacGuinness".
Club Club affiliations for Leinster players are from various newspaper reports of the 1974-75 league season. Ulster club affiliations are carried over from the affiliations shown for the 1974 Irish championship. Alan Ludgate's club affiliation is from his email of February 22, 2018.
Tie break The tie break system in 1972 was a playoff match. When did it change? It's possible that a match was envisioned, but became impractical when one of the tied players lived in England. One early report (Irish Times, July 21) said that Keogh and Ludgate "will shortly play off for the title". "I can't remember any discussion of a playoff in 75. Maybe we were asked at the prize giving and both said we were happy to share it."—Alan Ludgate, via email, December 7, 2017.
Ages Year of birth is unknown for Denny and Heathwood, but both played on the 1975 Glorney Cup team (David Dunne, Paul Wallace, Rolande Anderson, Paul Hadden, Brian Denny, George Heathwood: Evening Herald, July 24, 1975 p. 16), so they must have been around 18.
Débuts and final appearances 14 players had never played in an Irish championship before. Of these 5 (Alfred, Cummins, Denny, Heathwood, Prakash) never played again. McGuinness and Hadden were the other players who never played again.
