Clarke's scoresheet has 9... Na5 10. Bb5+ c6 11. Ba4 Nc4 and now the impossible 12. Nd1 followed by 12... Nfd5 (where the "f" would be unnecessary). The most likely explanation is that Clarke had failed to write down the moves 9... Be7 10. Qe1 and subsequently 13... Nb6 14. Bb3.
