"In the Fitzsimons ending I missed a very instructive draw, see if you can find it"— Peter Cafolla, Leinster Chess Cogitations blog, July 12, 2010. The ICU games archive had here the note "The losing move. 47... g5! draws e.g. 48. fxg6+ Kxg6 49. Bxh4 f5 50. e5 f4 51. e6 f3 etc."

But after 47... g5? 48. Kb4 Kh6 49. Kc4 Kh5 50. Kd3 Kg4 51. Bf2! Kf3 52. Bg1 Kg2 53. e5 Kxg1 54. exf6 h3 55. f7 h2 56. f8=Q h1=Q 57. Qc5+ White wins. Instead the move played is the right one after all.

48. Bg3 Kh6?

48... g6! draws, e.g. 49. fxg6+ Kxg6 50. Kb4 Kg5 51. Kc4 Kg4 52. Bh2 Kf3 53. Kd4 Ke2 54. Kd5 Ke3=.
